Test #5 - Colonoscopy











Journey of a Colonoscopy:

*anus
*external sphincter
*internal sphincter
*anal canal
*rectum
*sigmoid colon
*descending colon
*splenic flexure (by the spleen)
*transverse colon - across the top
*hepatic flexure (by the liver)
*ascending colon
*cecum

From the cecum there will be:
*the ileocecal valve leading to the ileum of the small intestine
*the orifice for the vermiform appendix

Video review - Pancreas, spleen and duodenum


The spleen is a lymphatic organ.
The duodenum is part of the small intestine (digestive system).
And the pancreas is a heterocrine gland of the endocrine system.

Potential spelling problems - intestines

The white band around the perimeter is spelled: teniae coli. The little blurbs hanging from the teniae coli are called epiploic appendages. I checked the spelling on Wikipedia after this was reviewed in the lab yesterday.
